The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises the public of infrastructure improvements at the Bellville Public Transport Interchange (PTI).

The planned work will focus on the minibus taxi section of the PTI and includes:

  • Safer access for minibus taxis
  • Reducing congestion at the PTI and along surrounding roads
  • Construction of new layer works for the roadway and holding area
  • New surfacing layer and road markings
  • Fencing to improve security
  • Paving for pedestrians
  • New underground closed stormwater system

Work is planned to start on 25 July 2022 and continue for approximately four months. The facility will remain operational throughout this time.

An additional temporary holding area for affected minibus taxi has been made available adjacent to the paid parking area accessed via Belrail Road.

  • Formalising the ‘Drop &Go’ area.
  • Formalising and re-configuring the entry/ exit to the PTI precinct.
  • New layerworks, surfacing, road markings, fencing and signage.
  • New stormwater network within the construction area.
