Transport for Cape Town (TCT), the City of Cape Town’s transport authority, would like to advise residents and road users in the Strand area of the refurbishment works on a section of the sea wall from the Strand Pavillion at the Beach Road traffic circle to Sarel Cilliers lane, Strand.
The works along Strand Beach Road will involve the refurbishment of the sea wall and will require a lane closure in order to facilitate access to the works. Traffic along this section of road will be affected from 07:00 on 18 July 2016 until about the 15 December 2016, depending on favourable weather conditions. The lane closure will be in effect 24 hours a day.
Residents and road users are advised that the lane towards Gordon’s Bay (landward side) will be open to traffic at all times, as will the side streets – Murray, Van Riebeeck, Church, and Abegglen Streets – coming into Beach Road. However, please make use of the detour along Fagan Street if you are travelling from the Gordon’s bay, as the lane on the seaward side will be closed to traffic. Sign boards will be in place indicating the route of the detour.
TCT would like to thank road users for their patience and cooperation during this time and any delays that may be caused by this important refurbishment project.
