What is TCT?
Transport for Cape Town (TCT) is transport authority within the City of Cape Town that regulates and administers transport related matters for the geographic area. It is a governance structure responsible for a number of functions which together facilitate integrated transport for the benefit of the citizens and visitors to Cape Town.
What does Transport for Cape Town do?
Transport for Cape Town acts as the planning authority; contracting authority and Municipal Regulatory Entity. It is also responsible for performance monitoring and evaluation; financial management; transport law enforcement; liaison, communication and stakeholder Management; infrastructure management; and network operations management. Transport for Cape Town may have further functions conferred on it by the Council of the City of Cape Town and the Executive Mayor.
What is the relationship between Transport for Cape Town and the City of Cape Town?
Transport for Cape Town is part of the City of Cape Town. It is not a separate juristic person or a municipal entity. In all respects Transport for Cape Town is part of the City and the City’s governance and reporting structure.

The TIC provides information 24/7 including operation information for Cape Town’s major scheduled public transport services namely Metrorail, Golden Arrow Bus Service and MyCiTi bus rapid transit. You can also visit the websites of these services at www.metrorail.gov.za, www.gabs.co.za and www.myciti.org.za. Metered taxi services are widely available on demand as well as minibus taxi services which are licensed to provide on demand services on particular routes and can be hailed kerbside.
