  • Open Streets City Centre 2017

    Following on from the successful Open Streets Day in Bree Street in 2016, this year’s event took place on Sunday 15 January, and also included a section of Longmarket Street which connects with a different part of the Cape Town central business district (CBD).

  • African Real Estate Summit 2016

    “Developing Future Cities” was the theme of The African Real Estate Summit, which was held in partnership with WESGRO and United Cities and Local Governments Association Africa (UCLG-A) on 2 – 3 November 2016 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). The two-day event provided a platform for the international real estate sector to launch projects in Africa. Transport for Cape Town was one of the exhibitors at the event.

  • Open Streets in Langa

    Open Streets Cape Town returned to Langa on 30 October 2016 and transformed King Langalibalele Drive into a playground for children and adults to walk, cycle, skate, explore, connect, and even dance.

  • 2016 Mobility Indaba

    Transport Month in October 2016 kicked off with the Mobility Indaba #cocreate2MOVE. The five day indaba was held at Kenilworth Racecourse and organised by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in partnership with Transport for Cape Town, WESGRO and Accelerate Cape Town.

  • Successful first Open Streets in Mitchells Plain

    The first-ever Open Streets in Mitchells Plain took place on 3 April 2016 in the area between Wespoort Drive and Merrydale Avenue.

  • Open Streets January 2016

    Mitchells Plain will add its name to Open Streets Cape Town’s list of host areas following the event’s success in Bree Street on 17 January 2016.

  • Congestion Summit 2015

    Executive Mayor Patricia de Lille sent out a call to action in October 2015 inviting national and local government, the business community, investors and residents to address Cape Town's growing congestion problem. This culminated in the successful hosting of the City of Cape Town's Congestion Summit on 4 November 2015 which was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

  • UATP 2015

    Cape Town hosted the African Union of Public Transport (UATP) workshop on best practices in Africa for Africa from 20-22 October 2015.

    The event focussed on best practices in Africa workshops, the development of the African Public Transport Charter, enabling key role-players, professionals and decision-makers from around Africa to exchange knowledge, skills and share expertise.

  • UITP 2015

    Transport for Cape Town recently participated in the 61st UITP World Congress Exhibition in Milan where it received special recognition for achievements in public transport and for addressing the city’s transport needs through establishing a transport authority.

  • TOD Summit 2014

    Transport for Cape Town hosted the City’s first Transit Oriented Development Summit on 20 and 21 October 2014 at the Cape Town Stadium.

    The Summit focussed on the relationship between public transport and urban development and how Cape Town can become a more sustainable city by ensuring that denser settlements are serviced by quality public transport.
